How to cancel Crunchyroll
TL;DR
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Time estimate: 3 minutes
Step-by-step
On the web (fastest):
- Go to crunchyroll.com and sign in.
- Click your profile icon and select My Account, then Membership Info.
- Select Cancel Membership under your subscription details.
- Confirm again on the cancellation screen (No thanks, Finish Cancellation).
App differences: The mobile app routes you to your phone's subscription settings instead of canceling in-app. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, cancel there directly (below).
Billing-specific instructions:
Crunchyroll cannot cancel a subscription billed by someone else. Check who charges you first.
- Billed through Apple (iTunes/App Store): iPhone/iPad → Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Crunchyroll → Cancel Subscription.
- Billed through Google Play: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Crunchyroll → Cancel subscription.
- Billed through Amazon, Roku, or PayPal: Cancel through that platform. For PayPal, end the automatic payment to Ellation Holdings Inc.
Traps to expect
- The cancel button hides. It sits under Membership Info on an older-styled account page; ad blockers can break the page, so try a clean browser window if it won't load.
- Cancel at least a day before renewal. Canceling within 24 hours of the renewal date can still trigger the next charge.
- No partial-month refunds. You keep premium until the end of the billing period, but you won't get money back for unused days.
Retention offers
The cancel flow may offer a cheaper tier instead of leaving:
- Downgrade to Fan: Dropping from Mega Fan ($13.99/mo) to Fan ($9.99/mo) keeps ad-free anime on one device. Verdict: worth it if you watch solo; otherwise cancel cleanly.
After you cancel
- You keep premium access until the end of your current billing period.
- Your watchlist and history are tied to your account and survive resubscribing.
Coming back
Sign back in at crunchyroll.com and pick a plan. Your account, lists, and history are still there.
