How to cancel Hulu

Step-by-step

On the web (fastest):

1. Go to hulu.com and sign in.
2. Click your profile icon (top right) → Account.
3. Under Your Subscription, select Cancel.
4. Hulu will offer pausing and plan changes first. To proceed, select Continue to Cancel.
5. Confirm the cancellation.

App differences: Hulu's phone and TV apps don't reliably offer cancellation; use a browser. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, cancel in that app store (below).

Billing-specific instructions:

• Billed through Apple: iPhone/iPad → Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Hulu → Cancel Subscription.
• Billed through Google Play: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Hulu → Cancel subscription.
• Billed through Amazon: Your Amazon account → Memberships & Subscriptions → Hulu → Cancel.
• Billed through Roku: Roku home → highlight Hulu → press * → Manage subscription → Cancel subscription.
• Billed through Spotify, Verizon, or another partner bundle: Cancel through that partner. Note that dropping Hulu from a partner bundle can affect the bundle price; check before you confirm.

Traps to expect

• The pause screen looks like the cancel screen. Hulu leads with pausing (up to 12 weeks) when you click Cancel. That's a real feature, but make sure you know which one you picked before leaving the page.
• Live TV add-on billing: If you have Hulu + Live TV, canceling the base plan ends the add-on too. There's no keeping Live TV without the base.
• Annual plans and some third-party-billed accounts may not be eligible for pausing. If the pause option doesn't appear, that's why.
• Free trials may end immediately. Canceling during a trial can cut access on the spot rather than at the trial's end date.

Retention offers

• Pause up to 12 weeks: The headline offer. Your account and profiles sit dormant; billing resumes automatically when the pause ends. Verdict: genuinely useful for short breaks (a summer, a busy quarter). Set a reminder for when it resumes, because it will charge you without asking again.
• Free month: Hulu sometimes offers a free month to cancelers. No public schedule for when it appears. Verdict: free is free, but weigh it against your rotation plan. One free month that pushes your resubscribe date is neutral; one that makes you forget to cancel again is a trap.

After you cancel

• You keep watching until the end of the current billing period (trials excepted, see above).
• Profiles, watch history, and My Stuff are expected to persist for a resubscribe on the same account, but Hulu doesn't publish a retention window.

Coming back

Sign back in at hulu.com and pick a plan. If you paused rather than canceled, check your Account page; the pause may still be active.
